High Temperature Gasket Materials

Custom Gasket Mfg. offers premium solid rubber and sponge rubber materials suitable for high temperature applications, such as: Silicone, Fluorosilicone, Fluorocarbon (Viton®), EPDM, Viton® Sponge, Silicone Sponge, Conductive Silicone and Silicone Coated Fiberglass. They are among the best high temperature performers in regards to elastomeric materials. Each has an operating temperature range specific to the material.

  400°F-500°F (204°F – 260°C)
  400°F–500°F (204°F – 260°C)
  400°F–500°F (204°F – 260°C)
>400°F (204°C)
 -40°F to +450°F
 -100°F – +500°F
 -100°F – +500°F
  500°F/260°C

Viton® Sponge plays a particularly vital role in cases where soft fluoroelastomers are desirable.  The practical low hardness limit for solid Viton® is 55 durometer.  Viton® Sponge fills this void where softer material is required however the heat and fluid resistance of solid Viton® is necessary.

Silicone Sponge offers improved durability and sealing.  It is used to seal or protect various outdoor communication, lighting or electronic enclosures, while providing protection against small dust particles, wind driven rain or fire.  Silicone sponge offers higher tear and tensile strength than lighter grade sponge materials.  (UL Rated Material: UL-94VO)

Viton® Rubber is a high performance rubber compound designed for use when it is necessary to contain fluids that would degrade normal elastomers.

Custom Gasket Mfg. also recommends additional high temperature material options, including: Compressed Non-Asbestos, Fiberfrax® Ceramic Fiber, PTFE (Teflon®), Flexible Graphite & Carbon, Nomex®, and Kapton®.

Compressed Non-Asbestos Gaskets (Temperatures to 850°F)

Compressed Non-Asbestos Gaskets Compressed non-asbestos gasket materials combine non-asbestos fibers such as fiberglass and aramid fibers with rubber to enhance the temperature and pressure performance of the gasket.  Combining inorganic and organic fibers with rubber and fiberglass allows for a range of variants that have different mechanical specifications.  Metal inserted materials are able to operate at even higher pressure and temperatures.  Compressed non-asbestos materials are the most standard form of high-temperature gaskets.  They can be used in general applications that do not require high levels of complexity and endurance.

Custom Gasket Mfg. offers Garlock®, Thermoseal® (Klinger®),  Flexitallic®, Frenzelit®, Durlon® and Teadit® brands of compressed non-asbestos gasket materials.  These materials are available in thicknesses ranging from 1/64" to 1/4" thick.
