Steel Rule Die Cutting

Steel Rule Die Cutting

Steel rule die cutting is one of the most common forms of die cutting. When a steel rule die is created, it is bent and formed to customer specifications for cutting and stamping out custom parts and components. We start out with a sheet of steel that is bent and formed into a custom shape to match our customer’s dimensional requirements. The steel rule dies are then used on flatbed machinery, to “punch out” different shapes from non-metallic materials. Steel rule die cutting is a faster and cleaner way of manufacturing gaskets, seals, and custom die cut products.

Rotary Die Cutting

Rotary die cutting uses a cylindrical die on a rotary press to cut gaskets. As the die rotates, a large sheet of material is fed into the press at the same speed as the rotation. As the die makes contact with the material, it creases, perforates or cuts out the custom shape from the sheet of material.

Kiss Cutting

Kiss Cutting

Kiss cutting is the process in which pressure sensitive adhesive backed material is partially, but not completely cut through. This method cuts through the actual gasket material and adhesive to the liner on the back. By cutting the gasket in this method, the gasket retains its pressure sensitive adhesive backing and liner allowing for a “peel and stick” application.

Laser Cutting

Laser cutting utilizes a high-powered laser to cut out shapes on sheets on material. A computer-aided design (CAD) program moves the laser on a path to cut out the desired shape. This method is used for materials that are harder to cut using traditional die cutting methods. The cut provided by the laser is cleaner and more precise, allowing high-volume projects to be completed in a timely manner.

Custom Gasket Mfg. offers a full spectrum of advanced die cutting services utilizing both automatic and semi-automatic presses with a wide range of pressures and size capacities for both sheet and roll stock. Our presses also consist of high-speed rotary presses; punch presses; traveling head presses and flatbed presses (with bed sizes up to 48" x 72"). This enables us to satisfy all of your die cutting requirements.
