NEMA Electrical Enclosure Gaskets

Electrical Enclosure Materials

The design and function of the enclosure can differ depending on material, size and factors needed for the application, for instance dustproof, waterproof, exposure to water and ice, chemicals, oil and UV. The general performance required such as dust sealing, wash-down protection, or submersion will also determine the best material for the enclosure gasket. Enclosure gaskets and seals are typically produced from weatherproof and UL 94 rated closed cell sponge rubber and silicone sponge gasket materials. The material’s closed cell construction creates an ideal weatherproofing gasket for electrical enclosures and other electronic sealing applications exposed to outdoor environmental conditions.

Custom Gasket Mfg. takes pride in its ability to work closely with customers to create custom enclosure gaskets which will meet and exceed their sealing requirements. At Custom Gasket Mfg. we assist customers in selecting the right material for the job. We base the selection of the material on the function that is required for each individual application. All enclosure gaskets and seals produced by Custom Gasket Mfg. are rigorously tested to meet the demands of the most challenging electrical and electronic needs.

NEMA Enclosure Gaskets (NEMA Ratings & IP Standards)

Custom Gasket Mfg. provides custom NEMA and IP enclosure gaskets. NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) in the United States and IEC International Protection (IP) standards is both used internationally. These standards help engineers define the specific requirements that need to be met for their design. The IEC (IP) standards help engineers define the specific requirements that need to be met for an electrical enclosure. This is rated on a scale of 0 denoting no protection, to 6 the strongest level of protection for either dust and/or water. We have included a reference chart below to assist you in finding the enclosure gasket that is best suited for your application.
